INTRODUCTION TO THE STAGE
Performers
will:
- Participate in a low
pressure Audition and be placed in band with the instrument of their
choice. All Genres of Music welcome.
- Get 1.5hr of STAGE
REHEARSAL weekly with Band Instructor
- Receive a 1hr master
classes weekly with the instrument of your choice
- Perform LIVE at
HEADLINERS for family & friends.
This program allows you to pursue &
explore multiple instruments if you have the time, desire and
commitment. Please see our Intro to Stage Bundles. Performers may choose
from the following: Guitar, Bass, Drums, Horns, Keys/Piano, Vocals &
Tech classes. 15 WEEK PROGRAM

WHO'S IN THE BAND?
For Bands: BANDS & TRIOS & SOLO ACTS - ALL
GENRE'S WELCOME
I
Performers in this program will:
- Already be in a band. You will register as a group. Prior to
registration performers will have made the commitment for the 12
week program. Bands may range from 2-7 players.
- Bands will pick a genre or musical theme to study in the
program. This will allow us a proper fit of musical instructor. You
will be free to pick or write your own material. All genre's
welcome.
- Receive 1.5hr of stage rehearsal weekly with band instructor.
- Performers will explore Stage Presence, Song writing,
arrangement, performance warm-ups & Stage Tech & Set up.
- You will perform LIVE twice - at a live venue - TBA ( each
term will be different) or at HEADLINERS.
12 WEEKS - $595.00 + GST
STAGE & TECH CLASSES - Wednesdays - Rehearsals Times TBA
Private One-on-One Instrument Lessons and extra stage time available.

LEVEL TWO PERFORMERS are welcome to sit in on INTRO TO THE STAGE
CLASSES for a drop in rate of $8.
SIDEWALK ALL-STARS - LEVEL THREE
LAST STOP BEFORE THE TOP - BOOKING GIGS
Your Band will take a ten week course and focus on creating a
demo/promo pack that will prepare you and have your organized to book a
gig, promote and market your own band. This program will allow you to
ask all the questions and gain basic survival skills needed to survive
as a musician. Bands will leave with a promo pack and a critic by
qualified industry professionals.
- Bands will create a LIVE Music Video
- Record a LIVE three song demo.
- Weekly Band Rehearsal 1.5hr with critique instructor.
- Bands Photos, Media package, Bio's
10 WEEKS - $550 + GST
Classes and Workshops
We do require that all auditioning students have minimal experience.
Self taught, lessons, school band, etc. We audition students for the
Sidewalk All-Stars in March and October. Applications will be accepted
on a first come first serve basis. All students must pass an entry
audition before enrolment is confirmed. Regular attendance is mandatory.
Auditions
We audition two times a year for aspiring vocalists, drummers, guitarists, bassists, pianists, horn & harp players. Applicants may audition with one instrument of their choice, vocalists please prepare one song. Upon program entry students are welcome to study as many instruments as desired, however must remain committed to their audition instrument. Please bring your own instrument for the audition; vocalists are welcome to bring back up CD’s or accompaniment.
Students must provide their own instruments for the program. Guitars, strings, pic’s, tuners, patch cords, drum sticks, etc. We provide amps, mics, keyboards, drums and other needed equipment.
Beginners should have 6-12 months of lessons. Guitarists should know basic open chords. Drummers should be able to play a simple rock beat, and will be required to audition. Students should be able to play a whole song.
Intermediate players should have at least one year of lessons. Guitarists should be comfortable with open and bar chords and be able to play scales. Keyboard players should know major and minor triads. Drummers should be able to keep a beat for three minutes without stopping.
Advanced players must have solid playing skills. Guitarists should know 7th chords, open and bar chords, blues scale, and be comfortable taking a solo. Keyboard players should know 7th chords, inversions and the blues scale. Bassists should be able to play a walking bass line through a 12-bar blues. Drummers should be able to play rock, shuffle and Latin beats.
Teachers will assess skill level based on a performance guidelines provided by SkyHigh Productions to assist with determining bands and skill levels. This will make the process consistent and fair. Students will be required to audition or submit a demo tape prior to the first day of the program. Please do not be discouraged if you feel that you don't have these abilities! You may know these things, but not be familiar with the terms.
